Offering student choice also allows the teacher to easily differentiate.

You can offer student choice projects in a number of ways.

Some are as simple as "You can complete this project using option 1 or option 2," or as complex as the choice board projects below:

While I am not suggesting that we should ALWAYS replace these traditional assignments, I do know that when students climb up the SAMR ladder, more features are possible to help them reach higher order thinking skills. Also, many of these apps/programs can shuffle around the matrix depending on use, or even combined for greater effect. Finally, never be afraid to create an assignment and leave the choices open-ended... you never what your students will come up with!
